Job Description

Provides motor quotations for complex risks based on underwriting authority limits and monitors conversion into policy. Evaluates and accepts complex risks within specified authority limits. Ascertains the need for renewal not later than 90 days before the expiry for complex risks, including accounts that require reinsurance. Makes recommendations to enhance accounts or terminate undesirable accounts based on statistical reports provided by Actuarial Services monthly. Recommends claims control measures to improve the loss ratio and/or profitability of accounts. Monitors renewal of accounts for conversion into policy. Maximizes retention on good accounts and efficiently utilizes the reinsurance facility to improve profitability. Maintains and updates parameters required for underwriting, such as tariff tables, clauses/endorsement/warranties, and other data relevant to statistical purposes. Prepares and submits reports as required by PIRA and other agencies from time to time.

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in business, marketing, or a related field. – At least 5 years of Motor Underwriting experience. – Preferably with leadership or management experience; able to lead a team. – Good verbal and written communication skills. – Proficient in modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment. – Familiarity with spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation applications.
