Job Description
A Risk Officer is expected to advise management on various types of risks (business, financial, legal, and security) and identify potential threats, creating plans to prevent and mitigate problems. They should be highly perceptive, methodical, and have the ability to communicate effectively and present plans convincingly.
The primary responsibility of a Risk Officer is to ensure that the company secures its reputation and profitability by controlling risk. This involves conducting assessments, defining and analyzing possible risks, evaluating the gravity of each risk, and developing risk management controls and systems.
Key responsibilities also include designing processes to eliminate or mitigate potential risks, creating contingency plans to manage crises, evaluating existing policies and procedures to find weaknesses, preparing reports and presenting recommendations, and helping implement solutions and plans.
Additionally, a Risk Officer is expected to evaluate employees’ risk awareness and provide necessary training when required.
