Job Description
· Oversees the overall operations of the Marine and Aviation Underwriting Department
· Ensures Proper Observation and Execution of the underwriting function for Marine Insurance lines
- Ensures that the selection of risk is of sound underwriting judgement
- Ensures that the products are promptly and adequately priced in relation to its exposure and/or overall portfolio bottom line results
- Ensures prompt and accurate issuance/encoding/printing of policies and other related documents
- Ensures that accepted risks do not expose the company’s assets for excess exposures above of what it can take/retain.
· Works hand-in-hand with Branch Managers and Marketing Managers for business solicitation and business development
· Provides Marine Open Policy, Aviation, Marine Hull proposals for individual and corporate clients
· In charge of reviewing and implementing the renewal rates, renewal terms and renewal conditions for all expiring Marine accounts of the company.
· Reviews and evaluates the Premium/Loss Report and provides an analysis or recommendation to upper management
- Member of Marine Claims Committee in charge of reviewing and recommending claims settlements.
- Troubleshoots insurance policy concerns from brokers/agents/banks.
- Troubleshoots internal system processes to align with the client/bank requirements
· Prepares and submits data/reports as needed by the Insurance Commission
· In charge of representing the Marine Underwriting department for internal and external audit procedures.
