Job Description
A Category Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement process for a specific category of products or services, ensuring the organization’s supply needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing category strategies to optimize supplier performance and reduce costs
- Conducting market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities
- Negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions
- Monitoring supplier performance and addressing any issues or concerns
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align category strategies with business objectives
- Regularly reviewing and updating category strategies based on market trends and changes in business needs
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and leveraging this knowledge to drive continuous improvements in the procurement process
