Job Description
A Collection Specialist is responsible for managing the company’s outstanding debts and ensuring timely payment from customers. The main role includes contacting customers via phone, email, or mail to negotiate payment terms and resolve any billing issues. Additionally, the Collection Specialist maintains accurate records of all communications and updates customer information as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable to minimize overdue payments
- Contact customers to request payment and negotiate payment arrangements
- Resolve billing discrepancies and answer customer inquiries regarding outstanding debts
- Update customer information in the database to ensure accuracy of records
- Prepare reports on collection activities, outstanding debts, and payment trends
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with some college coursework preferred
- Prior experience in collections or accounts receivable
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to handle difficult customer conversations with tact and professionalism
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with accounting software
