Job Description
Duties:
- Provide one-on-one counseling to students regarding academic, career, personal, and social issues.
- Assist students in developing educational and career goals.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ strengths and challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success.
- Organize workshops and group sessions on relevant topics.
- Help students with college and career planning, including applications and interviews.
- Maintain confidential student records and documentation.
- Stay updated on resources and programs that benefit students.
- Support students during times of crisis or emotional distress.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions with students and staff.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- State certification or licensure as a school counselor.
- Experience working with high school students in a counseling capacity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques and educational planning.
- Familiarity with college and career readiness programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Understanding of relevant laws and ethics in school counseling.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
