Job Description
The HSES Superintendent is responsible for planning, strict implementation, monitoring, and assessment of fleets/vessels’ hulls, equipment, and machinery in compliance with national and international quality and safety standards, policies, systems, and procedures.
- Conducts vessel’s safety inspection and discusses findings with the HSES Manager and Vessel Manager.
- Consolidates database and submits the following to the HSES Manager:
- Near Miss
- Unsafe Act and Unsafe Conditions
- Non-conformity
- Incident/Accident
- Safety Inspection
- Navigation Audit
- Participates in the implementation of ZERO HARM Program.
- Conducts safety-related researches and submits recommendations to the HSES Manager.
- Coordinates with the concerned units for the scheduled Safety meeting. Prepares and submits minutes of the meeting to the attendees.
- Acts as Pollution Control Officer.
- Conducts Safety Orientation/Trainings and supervises drills onboard.
- Conducts incident investigations and submits reports to assigned Lead investigator.
- Conducts port facility inspections as required by Charterer and/or Principal.
- Attends to vessel’s ISM/ISPS and other external inspections.
- Attends to vessel’s safety concerns such as gas freeing and other critical activities as necessary.
- Conducts alcohol random tests onboard periodically and immediately after the occurrence of the incident.
- Supports the safety, health, quality, and environmental management activities of all vessels in accordance with directions from leaders, managers, HSES & Technical department.
- Informs all concerned accurately and timely on all safety violations, near misses, and corrective measures administered to the vessels concerned.
- Performs other related duties as necessary.
