Job Description
Job Summary:
The Planning Engineer – Electrical is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining project schedules for electrical engineering projects. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and contractors, to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. The Planning Engineer will utilize project management tools and techniques to create realistic schedules, identify potential risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive plans for the installation
- Collaborate with Sales & procurement teams to identify equipment and materials requirements.
- Develop procurement plans, including timelines, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Evaluate suppliers and negotiate terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
- Monitor project expenses and compare them against budget allocations with the consent of the Execution team.
- Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact project timelines.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices.
- Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Assess project requirements, collaborate closely with project managers to comprehend staffing needs and skill requirements, and develop resource plans aimed at optimizing workforce utilization and project timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project planning and progress.
- Provide regular project updates and reports to management and stakeholders.
Required Experience:
3-5 years of experience in electrical planning roles.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer in electrical projects.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Experience in managing procurement, invoice, and resource planning aspects of projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
Desired certification:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
