Job Description

REGULAR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Smooth and efficient running of Pathology section.
• Validation of all tests performed in Pathology according to CAP requirement.
• Proper maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Inventory management.
• Maintaining all records and documentation according to CAP requirements.
• Preparing SOPs.
• Staff management including roster and leave management.
• Coordination with HR for selection and recruitment of staff.
• POCT management and coordination.
• Ensuring accuracy of results.
• Ensuring all critical results communication.
• Liaison with clinicians during reporting of unusual or abnormal results.
• Coordination with the IT staff for interfacing, LIS development, and implementation.
• Coordination with other relevant department i.e. purchase biomedical, maintenance, etc.
• Developing and implementing reporting formats according to CAP requirements.
• Training and teaching trainees, junior technologists, rotational staff, and students.
• Monitoring internal and external quality control program.
• Coming up with innovative plans and procedures for improving lab services.
• Ensuring that the team meets its KPIs collectively and individually.
• Ensuring that the department maintains a turnaround time to defined limits.
• Keeping abreast with recent advances in knowledge and techniques related to the field.
• Doing regular costing of tests and developing solutions to work more cost-effectively.
• Developing proposals for alternative or new tests, instrumentation, techniques as per the requirement of the institution.
• Ensuring safe laboratory practices.
• Any other task designated by Managers, Section Head, or Director Lab.
