Job Description
The IT Support Assistant provides technical assistance and support to system users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. They play a critical role in maintaining smooth operations within the organization by resolving technical problems efficiently and effectively. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Support:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware components.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and optimizing hardware performance.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs and replacements when necessary.
Software Support:
- Provide technical assistance for software installations, upgrades, and patches.
- Troubleshoot software problems and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams if needed.
- Assist users with software usage and provide training when necessary.
- Maintain software licenses and ensure compliance with software usage policies.
Network Support:
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues for wired and wireless networks.
- Configure and maintain network equipment like routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance and implement solutions for speed and reliability.
- Assist in VPN and remote access maintenance.
User Support:
- Respond to user inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
- Document technical issues and resolutions using a helpdesk system.
- Provide remote support using tools like remote desktop or phone support.
- Collaborate with IT staff on technical solutions.
