Job Description
- Design and advocate for modern data solutions using cloud native technologies, solid design principles, secure integration points, and automated deployments.
- Create tooling, structure, automation for new initiatives and existing data pipelines.
- Strong ability to understand, document and communicate technical architectures, best practices, toolsets, and solutions.
- Act as the technical expert for data platform and data operations.
- Own code pipeline and service configuration management needs of the Big Data platform team.
- Own development, test and production environments of the platform.
- Partner with other development teams and business analysts to deliver data infrastructure/platform solutions.
- Strong and innovative approach to problem-solving and finding solutions.
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal, formal, and informal).
- Flexible and proactive/self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership.
Technical Requirements:
- Experience with the following technology frameworks:
- Strong ANSI SQL development skills (DML, DCL, DDL).
- Working knowledge of Linux and AWS ecosystem.
- Experience working on big data frameworks like Spark, hbase, Phoenix, Hadoop, Presto, Hive.
- Experience with AWS data technologies like Glue, Athena, and EMR.
- Fundamental understanding of data structures and experience with distributed computing platforms.
- Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, RESTful Services, Microservices, Java Testing Frameworks (JUnit, etc.).
- Good Scripting knowledge in automation using python/bash/other scripting language.
- Expertise in SCM principles and experience versioning tools like Git, BitBucket, etc.
Nice to have skills:
- Experience developing web-based interactive visualization tools and dashboards for Analytics.
- Some exposure to programming against NoSQL databases (Dynamo, Cassandra, Mongo, etc.).
- Experience with SCM & build tools like Ant, Maven, Gradle, CMake, Jenkins, etc.
- Experience with AWS Cloud Formation and/or other IAC tools like Terraform.
