Job Brief:

As a seasoned Software Project Manager, you will lead and manage projects from initiation to closure, with a strong focus on project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while working closely with IT, security, and business units to align with organizational objectives. You will manage engagement risk, project planning and budgeting, resourcing, and tracking activities. Build strong relationships with key decision-makers, and handle customer communications throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet timelines, maintain quality standards, and deliver software solutions that meet client expectations.

Project Governance

• Establish governance frameworks and ensure alignment with organizational goals
• Manage risks, ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations
• Provide reports on project performance and coordinate audits
• Engage stakeholders for governance adherence throughout the project lifecycle

Compliance of Agile Processes

• Ensure agile methodologies comply with governance requirements and regulatory standards
• Standardize agile practices, monitor team adherence, and provide training on compliance
• Track performance using KPIs and promote continuous improvement in agile processes while ensuring strategic alignment

Project Planning and Execution:

• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of software projects, ensuring they are delivered within scope, on-time, and within budget
• Develop project plans including schedules, resource allocation, and task assignments
• Monitor project progress, track milestones, and manage any deviations from the project plan

Team Leadership and Coordination:

• Supervise and guide project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
• Conduct regular team meetings, providing direction, and ensuring alignment with project goals
• Address team issues, manage conflicts, and support team members to optimize performance
• Ensure appropriately skilled resources are delivering the project and ensure optimum resource availability during different stages of the project

Stakeholder Communication:

• Play a lead role in defining an effective communication strategy for the project, including communicating and consulting with key stakeholders and ensuring transparency and managing stakeholder expectations
• Control and report progress to the Steering Group/Sponsor and escalating any issues, as appropriate, in a timely manner and seeking feedback to guarantee customer satisfaction
• Manage routine interactions with client management and sponsorship

Risk Management:

• Proactively identify potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines or quality
• Identify interdependencies between the various stakeholder groups to ensure all are aligned and risks are identified, mitigated, and communicated. Should maintain risk and issue logs, and contingency plans
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and manage unforeseen challenges to keep projects on track

Release Management:

• Collaborate with development, QA, and project teams to create release plans, schedules, and scope
• Define release objectives, criteria, and success metrics
• Assess the impact of release changes and coordinate adjustments as needed
• Oversee the end-to-end release process with technical leadership, including scheduling, deployment, and rollback plans
• Communicate with stakeholders and teams to ensure everyone is aware of release timelines and dependencies
• Resolve conflicts and dependencies to ensure smooth release execution

Quality Assurance:

• Oversee quality control processes to ensure software development adheres to industry standards and client requirements
• Conduct regular reviews and assessments to maintain high-quality project deliverables

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related discipline
• Master’s degree in Project Management is a plus
• Must-have professional certifications in project management like PMP, Agile Certified Practitioner from PMI, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), DASM, and/or Prince 2

Experience

• Proven 5-8 yrs experience as a Project Manager in the software development industry
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
• Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., JIRA, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, Trello)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines
• Familiarity with software development processes, tools, and technologies
• Strong technical aptitude with a deep understanding of software development, systems integration, and data-related technologies. Experience with cloud computing, machine learning, or other cutting-edge technologies is a plus
• Knowledge of data analytics, AI concepts, and data engineering principles & familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services is a plus
• Agile Project Management and IT Project Governance experience is a must
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
• Exposure to SaaS environments, particularly Azure, and familiarity with DevOps processes

While not essential for the role an understanding and some experience or knowledge of the following will be beneficial.

Front End:

• Angular 14+ and TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SASS, Bootstrap, JavaScript etc
• Strong experience in using and consuming Web-based APIs (REST)
• Experience of handling different data formats including JSON, XML, database schemas
• Experience of Visual Code and or Visual Studio

Processes:

• Full life cycle experience and use of Agile methodologies (Kanban, SCRUM)
• Proficiency with Git and Azure DevOps for version control and branch strategies
• Frontend and Middle Tier Test automation tools and unit testing frameworks
• Appreciation for clean and well documented code

Middle Tier:

• The platform uses Microsoft Azure and experience of Microsoft tools will be very advantageous. E.g., C#, ASP.NET, Dot Net Core, MVC
• Experience of Python, Node.js would also be very valued
• Experience developing and managing REST APIs, versioning, and design patterns

Data Tier:

• SQL Data storage patterns including SQL, schemas, stored procedures etc
• SQL Azure, CosmosDB, MongoDB, Azure storage, No SQL will be beneficial
• Experience of data analysis tools and use of AI/ML highly desirable including Azure Cognitive (AI) Search
• ETL, data factories, Web Scrapping etc

Infrastructure:

• Experience of developing and hosting on Microsoft’s Azure platform especially use of Application Insights and or Google Analytics will be very valuable
• AWS and Oracle Cloud hosting also valuable
