Job Description
Job Summary:
As a Technical Solar Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the installation process of solar energy systems. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive surveys and assessments of potential solar installation sites, ensuring their suitability and optimising system performance. This role requires a strong technical background in solar energy systems, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Assessment:
Conduct on-site visits to potential solar installation locations to evaluate factors such as shading, roof condition, structural integrity, and local weather patterns.
Use specialized tools and software to measure solar radiation, assess roof angles, and gather data on available space for solar panels.
Technical Analysis:
Analyze collected data to determine the energy generation potential of the site and recommend suitable solar system configurations.
Calculate the expected energy output, taking into account factors like panel efficiency, inverter performance, and losses due to shading.
Compliance and Regulations:
Ensure that all installations comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
Prepare documentation for permitting and assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
Customer Consultation:
Communicate survey findings and proposed solar solutions to clients, addressing their questions and concerns.
Provide cost estimates and ROI projections based on the survey results.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of site assessments, measurements, and calculations.
Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on the latest advancements in solar technology and industry best practices to provide the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field (preferred).
Certification or training in solar energy systems or photovoltaic installation.
Proficiency in using solar surveying tools, software, and related equipment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of local building codes and regulations related to solar installations.
Physical ability to climb roofs and conduct on-site assessments.
